In service of Clarity - i noted in previous comments that perhaps i should offer a bit here.
Teela notes that Kelly "fell out when we hit the Brane."
Brane is a physics term that refers to the separation barrier between different dimensional realities. (Think memBrane)
What we saw was a Continuity Bubble pushing in from an exterior reality into this pocket realm.
